ADI CULTURE CAREER 2016 FOR LA SALA VINÇON

/ Jury extract _ The jury of the first edition of the ADI Culture Awards has decided to award the Sala Vinçon for its track record in the field of design culture.

ADI CULTURE 2016 FOR ADHOCRACY

/ Jury extract _ “Adhocracy Athens: From making things to making the commons” is an international project out of the standard exhibitions, which can also be understood as an idealogical programme, but which refuses to go into definitions. Whith a great curating job, worked as an open process, it shows an updated point of view of design, while giving space to other visions.

Presentation

ADI Culture Award’s objective is to encourage public recognition of those projects that, in both fields of design and culture, help to promote and update product design socially and conceptually, or projects that are useful to incentivize dialogue, ideas and activity in this discipline.

Since 1961, ADI-FAD has given Delta Awards to the best products, and since 1976, the ADI Medals have been given to the best final year projects in the field of industrial design. 2016 will be the first year in which the ADI Culture Awards are given.

The competition is organised around two main categories:

– The project category will award projects known up to 5 years before the contest closing date (January 2016).

– Career category will recognise those projects or professionals whose continuous career path in the field of the contest has been relevant. A unique prize for each contest edition will be given in this category, chosen by the jury among the ADI-FAD Board proposals.

The following points refer, then, to the projects category.

AIM

ADI Culture Award’s objective is to encourage the public recognition of those projects that, in both fields of design and culture, help to promote and update product design socially and conceptually, or projects that are useful to incentivize dialogue, ideas and activity in this discipline.

Since 1961, ADI-FAD has given Delta Awards to the best products, and since 1976, the ADI Medals have been given to the best final year projects in the field of industrial design. 2016 will be the first year in which the ADI Culture Awards are given.

The competition is organised around two main categories:

– The Project category will award projects known up to 5 years before the contest closing date (February 2016).

– Career category will recognise those projects or professionals whose continuous career path in the field of the contest has been relevant. A unique prize for each contest edition will be given in this category, chosen by the jury among the ADI-FAD Board proposals and with the same recognitions as in the Project category, which are specified in the awards section.

The following points refer, then, to the projects category.

PARTICIPATION

ADI Culture Awards have room for projects of very diverse typologies, including but not being limited to the following listed below:

Projects whose result belongs to a theoretical not objectual framework and that provoke criticism and / or dissemination in the sphere of design. They can be an example: publications, exhibitions, cycles and congresses, physical spaces—galleries, shops— or virtual —websites, blogs, apps— educational programmes, films, and all those concepts yet to be explored.

The material projects with a strong conceptual and innovative side, being able to be processes, prototypes, experimental products, interdisciplinary, installations, unique pieces or numbered series, objects that are distant from the usual market circuits or those that help to recover or open new paths to product design.

Registrations are free and can be made by one’s own initiative or by invitation or suggestion of a third party.

The award makes room to proposals from a wide national range, made by individuals or collectives, being able to participate in the following:

– Projects made in Spain.

– Projects made abroad whose main person in charge is Spanish.

-Projects funded with Spanish capital.
